Gregory Rogers

Regarded as one of Australia’s finest children’s books illustrators, Greg Rogers has illustrated books for over 20 years. He says his motivation comes from projects that are ‘a bit different or risky’ – and, of course, a looming deadline.

Greg is a self-taught graphic designer and has worked as a freelance illustrator since 1987. He studied at the Queensland College of Art and was a former Queensland public servant.

His first major commissions were book cover for novels for young adults published by the University of Queensland Press.

No stranger to awards ceremonies Greg has collected many of them over time. A highlight was when his work on the novel Way Home won the British Kate Greenaway medal for illustration in 1995 – the first Australian illustrator ever to have won this prestigious award.

The Boy, The Bear, The Baron, The Bard was selected among the Ten Best Illustrated Picture Books of 2005 by the New York Times.

Greg's books are also published in France, Netherlands, Germany, USA and Spain. He already has many new books in the pipeline, including book three of the BBBB series titled The Hero of Little Street.College of Art and was a former Queensland public servant.
