Clair Hume is the editor for younger readers at Affirm Press, a Melbourne-based publisher dedicated to publishing great Australian stories, big ideas, and the most engaging local and international authors.

Affirm Press has been the fastest-growing independent publisher in Australia for the last two years and Clair has recently come aboard to build a new list for children and young adults.

Previously, Clair worked at Penguin Books for six years, mainly as an editor for the Young Readers Division. She’s enjoyed working with Pamela Allen, Graeme Base, Terry Denton, Rebecca Johnson, Will Kostakis and Marc Martin (just to name a few!).

Clair loves books that make kids laugh and wonder. She loves books with great characters and stunning illustrations. She loves books that stay in your heart so even when you're old and can't remember where you've left your teeth, you can still recall where the green sheep was.

For her one-on-one assessments at CYA Conference 2017, Clair will be looking at all aspects of children’s literature including picture books, illustration portfolio’s, middle grade and young adult.
