Kristy Bushnell is a freelance editor specialising in children’s and young adult literature.

With over nine years’ of in-house experience at the University of Queensland Press in both editorial and marketing/publicity roles, Kristy provides sensitive and encouraging editorial guidance to assist writers in realising their publishing dreams. She has extensive experience in assessments, structural editing, copyediting and proofreading manuscripts of many genres, including children’s picture books, younger and middle reader fiction, and young adult fiction and non-fiction.

Kristy has had the pleasure of working with award-winning authors like Claire Zorn, Steven Herrick, Brian Falkner, Peter Carnavas and Rosanne Hawke, and CYA-success authors such as Samantha Wheeler, Elizabeth Kasmer and Kathryn Apel. She has arts and education degrees and a graduate certificate in writing, editing and publishing, and is now focused on her own independent editing service.

For her one-on-one assessments at CYA Conference 2017, will be looking at all aspects of children’s publishing.
Kristy is not attached associated with a publishing company.

We would recommend using Kristy as a general editor to get your work up to speed to submit to the publishing houses, or if you are planning on the self publishing route, having a great editor on board is really important.

Krisy's submissions for assessment will be open longer than others and will only close on 14th June.
