Date of Success:

Elizabeth (Libby) is a mid-thirty-something-year-old cliché! She loves her 6-month and 4-year-old daughters, hot yoga, good coffee, overnight hiking, story-spinning and nachos (and not always in that order). She lives on the Sunshine Coast (appropriately named) so she also enjoys long walks on the beach and evading melanoma. Libby is a high school English and Performing Arts teacher, who spends much of her time correcting students' pronounciation of the word 'hyperbole.' She has several years’ former experience working in Children’s Theatre as an actor, script writer and director at home and abroad.

WHAT CYA CONFERENCE DID FOR ME

In 2022 and new to the Kid Lit scene, I attended my first CYA conference. I was equal parts excited and nervous to book an editor assessment with Rochelle Stephens of Wombat Books. To my greatest delight, Rochelle expressed interest in one of my manuscripts, and following a few small edits, 'Boots' was signed! The journey to publication has been wonderful and full of learning, and I am so grateful for the support I have recieved along the way.

Released earlier this year, 'Boots' is a picture book inspired by my Grandfather and his colonial Australian roots. It paints a gentle portrait of an ‘everyday hero’ and reminds readers of the universal importance of making each moment of our own finite lives count.

Thank you Rochelle, the Wombat Books team and CYA xx
