I am an emerging Author with a debut picture book set to be released in August 2025 with Riveted Press following a Highly Commended award in the 2024 CYA competition. I am a regular contributor of poetry for The School Magazine, part-time primary school teacher, musician and lover of children's literature. I have always had a passion for writing and decided firmly at the beginning of 2023 to immerse myself in the kid-lit industry and follow my love of writing for children.
WHAT CYA CONFERENCE DID FOR ME
I attended the online conference in 2023 and in person in 2024 and both were outstanding for learning, growth, and insights into the industry. Above all this, the opportunity to receive guidance and direction from industry experts and meet so many encouraging people is the magnet that now has me wanting to return for more! The CYA competitions offer such fabulous opportunities for feedback. My Pet Archie received a Highly Commended in the Aspiring Picture Book category in 2024 and was ultimately picked up in a CYA assessment with Rowena Beresford from Riveted Press in the following weeks.
