WHAT CYA CONFERENCE DID FOR ME
CYA 2018 was what I like to call ‘the beginning of cyclone success’. Tina was generous enough to invite us to the conference to record an episode of our podcast LIVE from CYA - www.onemorepagepodcast.com/bonus-episode-cya It was perfect timing because I had been lucky enough have three manuscripts as finalists in the aspiring category. It began with a bang when my manuscripts placed 1st & 2nd in the Picture Book for Primary Aged Children category and 2nd in the Chapter Books for Younger Children category. The awards ceremony was a real honor and I was excited to discover that Penguin Random House had asked for one of my manuscripts as an official submission. Eeeekkk!
I then spent the day, interview amazing authors, chatting with agents and publishers and just some general hob-nobbing with my awesome peers.
From that incredible day the whirlwind began. A week later I signed with agent Brian Cook. A couple of weeks after that he was submitting my manuscripts to publishers. And a few weeks later I had signed a two-book deal with Penguin Random House. CYA Conference July 7th to signing contract August 24th - Cyclone Success!
CYA is a fantastic opportunity to get your work out there, meet amazing people and get your foot in the door.
My first middle grade novel will be out in June 2019. I hope you love it!
