Fiona Smith - Agent Assessments
Fiona lives in far north NSW with her two teenagers, two dogs (editing assistants) and her horse, Dusty.  
 
On top of running Beyond Words Literary Agency and representing a string of successful authors, Fiona is also a school teacher, writing coach, editor and published author. Her memoir, My Wild Ride, was published by Allen & Unwin in 2013. 
 
Prior to creating BWLA, ​Fiona had a successful career in Sales and Marketing at a national level. This experience, coupled with her love for and knowledge of the publishing journey, enables her to place your novel with the right publisher. 
 
She has a BA Arts/ BA Education with an English Literature major.
 
Fiona is looking for interesting stories in all categories (except horror) that captivate the reader!
 
Fiona is looking for manuscripts that hook the reader from the get-go and have a strong commercial pull. Current topical themes woven into your story are always a plus too. Your manuscript doesn't need to be finished either - Fiona is also an editor and can help you with plot, storyline, character arcs, narrative arc etc.
 
Currently not looking for children's books.

    If you’d like to set up a payment plan, just send us a quick email at info@cyaconference.com to receive your code before booking. A 15% non-refundable deposit is required upfront for payment plans, with full payment due before your session.

     

    Please note that each attendee can have only one payment plan.

Assessment sessions:

    • are only available to conference attendees.
    • may be booked before booking for the conference, but you must book for the conference by 15 May, or your session will be cancelled and not refunded.
    • have a $25.00 administration charge should you decide to cancel before 15 May.
    • are non-refundable if cancelled after 15 May unless we are able to resell the session.
